The exhibition introduces one of Sweden’s most significant photographers, Anna Riwkin-Brick (1908–1970), highlighting her rich and partly unknown body of work. The material—personal photographs, albums, diaries, and documents—was rediscovered in 2021 in very poor condition and is shown here for the first time after careful restoration. It also includes her long-overlooked documentation of Swedish-Jewish life in the 20th century.

The curatorial narrative is guided by Riwkin’s own words about the essential: “life, expression, and the human [livet, uttrycket och det mänskliga]”. This idea shapes the spatial flow, colour palette, and hand-painted surfaces that evoke movement and presence, as well as the furniture’s organic details. Thematically arranged images, thoughtfully designed display cases, and a graphic identity inspired by period publications allow visitors to come close to both the photographs and the person behind them.

Expology collaborated closely with the Jewish Museum to shape a cohesive experience, contributing to every stage of the project—from concept development and exhibition design to spatial planning, production management, and installation—ensuring that architecture, furniture, and communication worked seamlessly together.
