Sagastad is a new Viking knowledge center based around a 30 meter replica of Myklebust ship – one of the worlds largest viking ships ever found through archaeological digs. Here, we learn about the mystics, the rituals and the long voyages in fantastic ships. Sagastad is a celebration of culture, craft, and seamanship. Expology created a rich multi-media experience based around the ship model.
Expology’s mission, was to create an experience centre that would place Nordfjordeied on the national map, as an important destination venue. The project was strongly supported by academic research in cooperation with the University of Bergen.
The ship was placed in the middle of the Visitor Centre, surrounded by interactive exhibitions which connect the life-size reconstruction with it’s history.
