Our history

Expology began in Oslo in 1993 as a subsidiary of Burson-Masteller (now Burson Cohn Wolfe).

In 1998, it was bought out by employees-turned-founders, Kari Gjetrang and Kjetil Lobben, and over the last 25+ years has evolved into offices in Oslo and Stockholm. Today we are at the forefront of the Nordic market for creating memorable visitor experiences that educate and entertain.

This all boils down to our philosophy and approach that was established in 1998 with Mediarium where visitors were no longer a passive audience but active participants that learnt through role-playing.

This approach defines our philosophy today - to enlighten and entertain.

Our philosophy

Expologists are analytical and creative. We work closely with our clients. We encourage our teams to scrutinize motivations and challenge preconceptions about exhibition and experience design. We do everything in our power to contribute to our community. 

From the start, Expology has emphasized the importance of learning within visitor experiences. In fact, we’re the Nordic market’s pioneers in game-based and role-based learning in this area. We believe that museums, galleries, visitor centers, attractions and branded spaces are places of learning and empowerment.
